Research Experience

Postdoctoral researcher – Virginia Tech | June 2022 - present

As part of the VT Center for Ecosystem Forecasting, I have worked on a range of freshwater forecasting projects including using multi-model ensembles to improve lake temperature forecasting, large-scale synthesis of >100,000 forecasts from the Aquatics theme of the NEON Forecasting Challenge (in press), and design and delivery of forecasting tutorials that guide individuals through the development and implementation of simple forecasting workflows.

Research assistant – Lancaster University, UK | Apr 2022 - May 2022

Laboratory assistant – Lancaster University, UK | Nov 2021 - Feb 2022

Natural England CASE partnership – UKCEH | Oct 2017 - Jan 2021

Collaborative Award in Science and Engineering (CASE) project to produce an evidence base review of lake hydrology, synthesizing and critically analyzing scientific literature to provide guidance for Natural England lake managers.

Research assistant – University of Cambridge, UK | Mar - Sep 2017

Based at the Living with Lakes Centre, Laurentian University, Ontario researching the effect of terrestrial carbon inputs on lake foodwebs. Responsibilities included field sampling, laboratory analysis of water samples (metals and nutrients), identification of zooplankton samples and data input.
